Now a must-stop on the tour, this event is organized in collaboration with Crabbe Mountain and its local partners to deliver a truly unforgettable experience for racers and spectators alike.

DOWNHILL MTB COMPETITION

Experience the Thrill of Downhill Racing at Crabbe Mountain!

Join us for a brand-new addition to the event this year — an exciting downhill mountain bike race hosted in partnership with Crabbe Mountain and sanctioned by Vélo NB.

​

This special event features two full days of shuttle-supported riding, a challenging racecourse with optional lines for all skill levels, and categories for youth, amateur, and elite riders. Whether you're chasing the podium or just the adrenaline rush, this is a race you won’t want to miss!

Practice: Friday, August 1st
Race Day: Saturday, August 2nd

​Friday, August 1st – Practice day:
 

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Open track practice

  • Shuttle service will be available from the main lodge at Crabbe Mountain.

Saturday, August 2nd – Race Day:

​

8:00 AM – 9:30 AM : Open practice (All riders)
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM : Timed practice (All riders)

 

10:30 AM – 2:00 PM : Track closed for final preparations

​

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM : Race starts

  • Shuttles will be waiting at the main lodge at Crabbe Mountain to take you to the top.

  • The riders' meeting will take place at the starting area at the top of the mountain.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, there's a class for you! Racers will be grouped by age, gender, and skill level.

 

Youth & Junior

  • NextGen 12U – Boys & Girls 12 and under

  • Boys 13–14

  • Youth Men 15–16

  • Junior Men 17–18

  • Women 13–14

  • Women 15–16

  • Junior Women 17–18

 

Amateur – Cat 2

  • Cat 2 Men 19–29

  • Cat 2 Men 30–39

Note: Categories may be combined or split based on the number of participants. Final decisions will be made by the race organizers.

Rules & Safety Requirements

  • Full-face helmets are mandatory.

  • Knee/elbow pads, gloves, and back protection are strongly recommended (and may become mandatory depending on weather/course conditions).

  • All riders must ride within their limits — advanced features will have alternate lines or ride-arounds.

  • Only registered athletes with a number plate and valid lift access may enter the course.

  • Practice is only allowed during scheduled group times.

Licensing & Waivers

  • All participants must hold a valid Velo NB license or a UCI license.

  • Vélo NB or UCI membership will be verified on-site.

  • All riders under 18 must have a parental signature on waivers.

Registration & Fees

  • Registration opens: July 18

  • 150$ + Tax

  • Includes access to shuttles on both practice and race days. Plus Transponder and race number plate.

  • Site access fee is not included and must be paid at the gate: → $20 per person (tax included), free for kids under 5.

Timing & Results

  • Timing provided by LiveLaps – precision, reliability, live updates.

  • Missed start = disqualification. Riders must be on time for their start.

Shuttles

  • Shuttle trucks will be running all day Friday and during practice and race windows on Saturday.

  • Access to shuttles is included in the race registration.

SERVICE STATIONS

WATER - FILLING STATION

$25 + HST for dumping (check in at the Ranger station for directions). They advise not coming between 11am and 1pm as that is their arrival time for campers, so it is quite busy and will take a while to get to the dump station. They also have a water fill station separate from the dump station, just ask for directions at the check-in station.

$30 + HST for emptying (check in at the main office for directions). A water filling station is also available at the dump station.
