FMSQ PRESS RELEASE - 2026 PRE-SEASON UPDATES

  • Mar 14
  • 3 min read

Dear FMSQ members and participants,

Here are some important updates ahead of the 2026 season.

2026 Rulebook Update

The 2026 Rulebook has been updated following member suggestions, the Rule Committee's diligent work, and final approval by the Board of Directors.

The Board bases its decisions on several key factors: statistics, budgetary realities, the overall interest of the Federation, as well as external standards and constraints. While it is impossible to accept every request each year, the FMSQ would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in this process. It is thanks to your commitment that the series continues to evolve.

How to review the changes? To make it easier for you, all modifications to the rules and categories have been highlighted in color.

We invite you to review the document now so you can be fully prepared for the season!

2026 Memberships are now open!

Annual and Family memberships are now available on Livelaps. The standard procedures apply.

  1. Log in or create your Livelaps profile: https://www.livelaps.com/livelaps/en/login

  2. From your Dashboard, click on "Member Registrations."

  3. Scroll through the list of organizations and select FMSQ.

Rider Numbers: Your current numbers are reserved until April 15. After this date, unclaimed numbers will be released and become available to everyone.

To participate in FMSQ races, you must hold either:

  • An Annual Membership (Individual or Family);

  • Or a Weekend Membership.

Why choose an Annual Membership?

  • Savings: More cost-effective if you plan on racing multiple events.

  • Involvement: Grants you voting rights as a member of the Federation.

  • Personalization: Allows you to reserve your rider number (from 16 to 999).

Important Points

  • Details & Rates: All specific pricing can be found on Livelaps. Please note that taxes are applicable and not included in the listed price.

  • Family Memberships: Children aged 18 and over cannot be included unless they are full-time students (proof will be required: student ID or report card).

FQMHR Card (Mandatory for Quebec residents)

An annual FQMHR membership is mandatory to participate in events. It is free of charge and takes only a few minutes to complete.

"Guidon" Certification (Under 16)

For participants under 16, membership is conditional upon obtaining the "Guidon" certification. This free online training covers basic safety measures.

  • Duration: 15 to 30 minutes.

  • Assistance: Younger riders must be assisted by their parents.

  • Requirement: Must be completed prior to participating in an event.

  • "Guidon" Program Link: https://www.fqmhr.qc.ca/programme-guidon.php

Dynamic Pricing for Category Registration Fees

Starting this season, dynamic pricing will be introduced for category registration fees.

This approach allows the FMSQ to maintain last year’s rates for all online pre-registrations completed up to 7 days before the event. After this deadline, prices will be indexed by 10%.

This decision, made by the FMSQ Board of Directors, aims to limit overall fee increases while ensuring better predictability of participation. This strategy encourages early online registration and aligns with current trends in sporting event management.

Please note:

  • Annual or weekend membership fees are not affected by dynamic pricing.

  • This policy applies only to category registration fees.

  • Transponder prices also remain unchanged from last year.

  • Applicable taxes are extra.

2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The date is confirmed: Tuesday evening, May 12, via videoconference.

An official announcement will follow in the coming days with full details, including information regarding the Board of Directors positions up for election.

2026 Event Pages Launch

The specific web pages for each event will be available soon. Stay tuned to learn more about our 2026 FMSQ destinations!

Update: 2026 FMSQ Banquet Date

The date for the 2026 season banquet has been moved to January 23, 2027.

Access to venues and hotels with the facilities and capacity to host an event of the FMSQ Banquet's scale is limited. The dates originally targeted (late October to mid-November) are during peak season for these types of venues, which created constraints for the FMSQ.

As a result, it was decided to move the banquet to late January, also avoiding a conflict with Halloween.

Please take note of this update; we look forward to seeing you on January 23, 2027, at the Best Western in Drummondville to celebrate the 2026 season. While it is impossible to satisfy everyone, we hope to see many of you there. We are convinced that this new date will bring a unique and refreshed feel to the event!

Thank you all for your support and trust.

See you very soon in La Tuque to kick off the season!
